The banks provide debit cards popularly called ATM cards for the sake of safety and reliability. But the recent news in media has created a shocking and horrifying buzz among the card holders. There is a group in the city which copies the code of an ATM card and withdraws money from the ATM Counters. The theft is occurring every now and then. The central bank has already issued a public notice on this issue stating not to give their cards to strangers who might act as if they are trying to help.

The victims of this theft include some employees of the bank itself which came into the limelight. There could be so many such incidents which are unheard. The banks and the police department are working hard to track down these crooks. This trend was seen in Singapore and Hong Kong as well. This proves that the group is an international affiliated group.

So be careful and don’t let anyone hand your ATM card when you are using such cards around the Kathmandu valley. Some stranger might try to be co-operative and will nil your balance. Achtung all debit card holders.
