The end of so called revolution by the Maoists in Nepal has shown a significant improvement on tourism. This cease fire has opened a good opportunity for tourists to travel around Nepal freely. One of the backbones of the economy of Nepal is tourism and this time around this business is doing quite well.
The number of tourists visiting Nepal (recorded on the basis of air flight) has increased by 18%. October is the peak season for tourists visiting Nepal and this time the number of tourists has reached forty three thousand four hundred sixty eight which is an increment of six thousand six hundred seventeen of the previous year. The number of European as well as American tourists has increased quite notably this season. The number of Indian tourists however has decreased this year. But the Chinese tourists have increased by 133 % and thanks to the Chinese Southern Flight. The Dragon Air of Hong Kong has also recently restarted its flight which means the number of passengers is increasing.
In aggregate, last year in 2006 the number of tourist was two hundred twenty seven thousand six hundred and seventy four and this years stats shows two hundred ninety five thousand eight hundred and fifty five tourists already visiting Nepal. This is a thirty percent rise in the number of tourists compared to the previous year’s data. The lack of sufficient flights has still been the biggest factor which is playing a key role in attracting more tourists to Nepal. Had there been more and regular flight the number of tourists would have still gone higher.
