It was just a couple of months back when police raided the VOIP calling centers in the city. It is an illegal thing. Those involved in such VOIP calling centers have made a good sum of money. Using ISTD telecommunication lines to make a call abroad used to cost very high. With some help of these VOIP centers, people got dirt chip prices to make such calls beyond the political boundary. The price of a call per minute to Hong-Kong used to cost somewhere around 300.00 and when making a call through these VOIPs the price would only be somewhere around 40.00 to 50.00. In this cheap rate too, those VOIP center owners made a profit of upto 300% and more. The general pubic found this calling system very cheap and the owners were making a huge profit. There used to be sign boards attracting commoners to call their family and friends abroad in a very cheap price. This has now been raided by the police as they are found to be terminating the national telecommunications frequency and cheating tax.
