The concern here is that whether Nepal Oil Corporation would be able to fulfill the daily demand of petroleum products to the market or not? The general public would not accept the price hike and the Nepal Oil Corporation has no other option to increase the current price of those petroleum products. Without clearing the previous dues Nepal Oil Corporation will not be able to import petroleum products and it doesn't have enough fund to clear the dues. The price of petroleum products in the international market has crossed all the previous highs but the general public here would not bear the hike of such petroleum products in the local market.
If ever the price is hiked, the political parties would try to make it a political issue because there is a new party in the government. But there are people who are willing to buy such petroleum products from the black market where they have to pay almost double of the price, but those people are not willing to compromise with the Nepal Oil Corporation hikes the price. It is strange.
There has been a very big problem in the Nepal Oil Corporation in financial perspectives as when it was at the peak, the profit earned could not be invested in a proper manner. Now the Nepal Oil Corporation and the government has very little option to ensure smooth supply of petroleum products in the country.
