Poverty plays a significant role in any economy. The government brings out different plans and policies and campaigns to eliminate poverty. This however cannot be finished in a click. It takes a lot of time and the poverty cannot be totally eliminated from a society.
In the developing countries the poverty eliminating programs have simply made rich people richer. There could be seen no improvements in reducing poverty.
However it is difficult to categorize the poverty. What is to be focused when determining poverty? Is it income or the living standard? When income is taken into consideration for determining poverty lets take an example. A man in a remote area whose cost of living is not very expensive has an income of around five thousand, similarly a man who earns five thousand in a month but he lives in a very expensive city. The purchasing power of the one who lives in an expensive city would be far weak than that of the person who lives in a remote area. So which one of the two is richer or poorer? Therefore the poverty elimination will never be done.
