How are prisoners being treated by the nation? It should be a matter of discussion because they too are the citizens of a country. There may be hundreds and thousands of people serving in prison who are obviously treated as savage aliens. Civilized people should realize that they too should be given a second or third chance to improve their mentality and social behaviour. Keeping them in prison for their whole life is fact is a huge liability to the nation. The national economy has to spend a good sum of money to feed and shelter them. The investment indeed is a total waste if prisoners are only fed each day. The production is nil when the investment is still very big. Therefore prisoners serving in jail should also be brought into something productive in order to prosper.

There are many ways through which jail inmates can be turned productive. Not just economically, they can contribute to the nation socially. They can be mobilized to create social awareness; spiritual classes should be conducted inside the jail which would help them improve their nature and etc. They can also be provided trainings like electronic assembling, vehicle maintenance and the similar other vocational practices. This way they can transform their life and will do good for the whole nation at the same time.

In order to make them realize the importance of life, they should be frequently taken to old age homes where they’ll serve aged people and at least learn about the worth of life. Interacting with old aged people in the nursing homes or old aged homes, they can learn a lot and broaden their concept of looking and evaluating how precious life is. Hearing stories from old aged people they may develop some mentality and place them at their old age and look back at what they have achieved and lost. This is why paying a visit to such places could surely change their life.

Bringing up prisoners is itself a costly duty to the government and it’s a compulsion too. Human rights come into effect if they are ill treated. If the prisoners could earn some money inside the prison, it would be beneficial to them and the concerned should look into this matter because, handling prisoners is as dear as having qualified people without jobs. Like if the prisoners were given a stipulated time to sew some clothes for some garment companies, the prisoners there can earn money and the garment companies can also meet their retailers demand in time. There have been enough stories where foreign buyers of local garments had been cancelling their orders just because the producers here are simply unable to dispatch the orders on time. This is where the prisoners could be brought into work.

This is why, the prisons too should be transformed into something productive in order to excel.
